I’m Henza, an abstract artist based in Geelong, Victoria. I’m a self-taught artist, and my creative journey started a little later in life. Art became a way to express things that words never could—a language of its own, full of colour, shape, and emotion.
I’ve always been drawn to faces in my work—though not in the way you might expect. I’m interested in capturing the feeling behind an expression rather than the exact details of a person’s features. I like to experiment with brushstrokes, colours, and forms to create something that’s a little unexpected, it’s about inviting you into a moment.
There’s something really powerful in abstract art, it’s about evoking a feeling—a reaction, even if it’s one that doesn’t have an immediate explanation. My work is personal, shaped by my experiences. I’ve come to believe that art is about more than just what you see. It’s about what you feel when you look at it. The energy, the mood, the emotion that the piece stirs inside you. Every time I pick up a brush, it’s like I’m telling my story, layer by layer, in a way that only paint and canvas can express.
Through my work, I hope to share a piece of that journey with you, in a way that invites you to connect with your own.
